Self explanatory
I like to think that Matrix is like Microsoft Teams, but more professional. In reality, the official description is "an open protocol for decentralised, secure communications."
In case I haven't mentioned it on this website before, I genuinely dislike Discord. It's WebUI is confusing at least, expensive microphones sound horrible, and the app has almost no features on linux.
Imagine using an app almost entirely for screen sharing, only to not be able to do that, entirely because the developers refuse to update the app to a modern version of Electron.
Ok, well this isn't really about setting up Matrix per se, but more along the lines of logging into Matrix.
When you're looking into making an account for matrix, you have plenty of clients to choose from, however, whether you choose Element, FluffyChat, or Schildi, it should all be the same.
You simply open up the web version of said client, make a (lowercase) username, make a password, and enter your email.
I have made sure to set up the "Federation", so even if you make an account on our database, you can still join whatever Federation enabled server.
You can join our matrix server at matrix.idiotms.site. Remember, you can join the server from a database that does not belong to us, should you want to do that for privacy reasons.
Upon logging into matrix and element, go straight into your settings, Labs, and join the Video Rooms beta. That allows you to join Voice Calls. Then just adjust the settings to your liking.
Now, this one is important. If you want to bridge your discord account (you most likely do btw), simply direct message @discordbot:idiotms.site
, with the message login-qr. Then, go to your phone, into the Discord App, Settings, and Scan QR Code.
